SGARZI ASSOCIATES is well-known in the industry for our deep knowledge of sports facilities and our careful and insightful planning and architectural services.  We work comfortably in the worlds of both the private developer and the established institution.

Our sports and recreation capabilities are unique, and we are often asked to add our skills to an established client/architect relationship—adding needed depth for a project type that requires this specialty.  We are experienced in this role and have enjoyed many successful collaborations with various design firms—although we selectively choose our partnerships to ensure the team is similarly committed, supportive and well-coordinated.

In the institutional setting we understand and appreciate the differences among competitive athletics, fitness and wellness exercise, and other recreational pursuits, as well as the dynamics that will enable them to co-exist cooperatively and efficiently.  Depending on the mission of sports on the campus, this may mean well-considered sharing among all of the various user groups or distinct separations for the benefit of all.  In all cases it means a durable, safe and long-lasting solution that will inspire and attract social interaction and participation.

In the private developer’s world we understand the importance of high utilization, attractiveness, efficiency and timeliness.  Projects that are built for profit should be exciting and flexible to adapt to changing demands and evolving business opportunities.  They usually require a level of community acceptance and special permitting and they always need to be effectively organized and have the correct balance of spending to potential return.

We enjoy staying up to speed on trends and industry preferences, and we learn from our clients, our experiences and the work of others to ensure that our planning recommendations and design proposals are both exciting and enduring.
