OUR INTEREST in social spaces and unique design opportunities drives us to focus on the details and to understand the culture involved in each design challenge, no matter the scale. We appreciate the differences among the many user groups on a campus as well as the sensitivities often associated with neighbors and nearby communities, and take all of these into account in our work.
It is a priority to make spaces truly work—this requires a thorough understanding of program needs and all intended uses of a space. We spend time with our clients and the various user groups and interested constituencies, working to understand expectations and needs. We enjoy being creative in both design and materials choice when it will enhance and add value, and we strive to utilize as much daylight and sustainable solutions as possible without compromising safety or performance.
Often our building projects are in a campus setting, and are required to attract new users and inspire social interaction—without sacrificing performance, durability or safety. Our interest in student-life and our passion for sports drives us to pay attention to architectural trends and details as well as long-term solutions that offer flexibility and growth potential.
Sgarzi Associates provides full architectural services, from schematic design through construction completion and building occupancy. We communicate closely with our clients during the design and documentation process, and we take particular pride in developing clear construction documents for their projects. We value the close relationships we’ve built with talented and respected engineering and consulting firms, and we carefully assemble teams that are appropriate for each project. It is important to us to coordinate our documents and we welcome input and cooperation with the construction team whenever possible.
We welcome project challenges of different sizes and scope, from large new facilities to small and complex interior design and renovation projects. Many of our projects involve user group relocation, temporary provisions and phasing. And we have experience with many different construction delivery methods including design-build, design-bid-build, and construction manager-at-risk.
