BRIDGEWATER STATE COLLEGE | Bridgewater, MA
Bridgewater State College (BSC) selected Sgarzi Associates to study and lay out a new use for its Burnell School building, in anticipation of it no longer being used as a public elementary school after the 2007-2008 school year.
The study involved assessment of multiple campus academic groups as potential tenants. After careful consideration and campus-wide involvement, the building was re-designed to become the new headquarters for the BSC School of Education and Allied Studies (SEAS), including its outpatient Speech Pathology Clinic and all of the SEAS faculty and staff. In addition, the space will be improved for existing BSC programs such as the Children's Center and Theatre Arts/Dance.
The building will provide social gathering spaces supported by a café, and the general classrooms will be upgraded to include the latest technology for academic uses.
